Christmas is just a few days away and with that comes the ultimate struggle. How to stay motivated to work out and keep your healthy diet when everywhere you look there is food, sweets, alcohol, and there is absolutely no will to go and do something.
Set out small weekly and daily goals
There’s no better feeling that waking up and knowing what the day head of us consists of, so if you are in the habit of doing that already you won’t be surprised now. If not, then this a great time to start. Write out your weekly goals and then split them into individual days so that you don’t have to spend hours in the gym at once but instead do shorter workouts every day.
Mix up your workouts
If you know you will be traveling around to see your family, bring your home workout gear and don’t let the holidays get in the way of your progress. A quick circuit or HIIT workout can be done practically anywhere, as long as you find the will to do it. Use any equipment you can find and improvise with water bottles, chairs, or any other items that seem right but won’t make your workouts dangerous.
Aim for shorter & higher intensity workout
Christmas holidays are busy for most people, with traveling and seeing relatives and tables filled with food 24/7. Try not to get into the hibernation state where you lose track of time and your goals. Aiming for shorter workouts at higher intensity to get your body warm and moving, while not sacrificing family time will be the key. Try scheduling 20-30 minutes every morning before everyone else wakes up to get your workouts done. You won’t have to think about it for the rest of the day. It is also important to stay hydrated, especially if you aim to enjoy a festive drink or two. Water will keep your body energised.
Take time to recover
Keeping on top of your exercises over the holidays is great, because it proves your level of determination and will to do all it takes to succeed. But it’s also important to take time and recover. Christmas is family time, so if you skip a workout and instead spent quality time with your loved ones, the world will not stop moving. As long as you ensure to get back on track afterwards. Relax and unwind in the comfort of the UNBOWND Go tops.
Involve the family
Who says that Christmas workouts need to be done in a gym or alone? Make it a new family holiday tradition to work out together as a team. Go wild and make it a kid friendly workout and make a game out of it for the entire family. How does a family plank-off sound? Or challenge your relatives to a team game outdoors! You will all have fun, spend time bonding as a family, and also enjoy some fresh air. Working out with family is the same as working out with a friend, they help to push you further, create a competition for you, and everyone can enjoy it.
Remember that summer bodies are made in winter, so not letting your guard down this holiday season will be key in making your 2019 dreams come true. Keep hustling, because when you look back in a few months’ time, you won’t believe how far you’ve come.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from Team UNBOWND.
