Yoga has proven to have effect in reducing back pains, relieving stress, and improving mood. Not only that, but it can also help with your recovery after an intense workout. Yoga is practiced on a mat and barefoot, this allows you to stretch your toes properly and also prevents you from slipping. You will also need comfortable and stretchy clothes as most poses will aim to stretch and elongate your limbs and spine.

If you are a regular gym-goer, adding 1-2 yoga sessions per week into your workout routine can help with your recovery, pain relief, balance, flexibility, and stress levels. Also, try not to form your opinion on yoga after only one class, many teachers have varying techniques to teaching their classes, some focus more on physical poses and some on meditation, some go around the class and fix your poses some only provide instructions on how to do the poses and let you handle it on your own, therefore try going for classes from different instructors to find the right fit for yourself. 

 

 

If you are not comfortable with going for a public yoga class just yet, there are many online classes available for you to take from the comfort of your own house, or you can arrange a private class with an instructor. All you will need for a home yoga session is a yoga mat. Although there are other props which can be used while practicing yoga, for the beginning a mat should be enough.

For experienced yoga-doers there are different class level you can take, and also many different styles of yoga to try. Have you heard about fly-yoga? Those are exercises performed while hanging up-side-down on a swing-like prop followed by meditation and recuperation in child pose. This type of yoga is especially good for spine stretching.
